Help us thank a vendor!

When you have done a lot of hard work, isn’t a thank you note just what you need to feel the warm fuzzies that make it all worth it?

New vendors Klug Family Produce makes a sale at Coffee Creek Farmers Market

By Kat Peters, Market Manager

Guess who’s done a lot of hard work this season? Our vendors! Not only do they wake up early to plant and harvest their produce, or make their food item, or create new packaging and labeling, or carry out a marketing plan, but they also load up the tents, tables and signs and trek to the market every week to bring their creative goodness to you.

As a community I know that we are grateful that we can roll up to a neighborhood parking lot on a weekday afternoon and get our beloved bread or lettuce or pizza or flowers (or vegan food or tacos or meat or coffee or granola, etc etc etc).

And I know that the vendors are thankful that you do come. They show up with a smile on their faces, rain or shine, each week.

From cold and cloudy to sunset and moonrise, from setup to tear down, each week our vendors work hard and brave the elements. Let's give them something to smile about this off-season.

Let me tell you a little about that rain or shine. We know that you, our customers, depend on us, and we want to be a constant in your life, as reliable as a grocery store, and perhaps more so. We know that supply chains break down, gas prices rise, weather and disease impact crops, and getting our food every week is not guaranteed. That’s why our local food makers show up, week in and week out, to build a local food system that is strong and will keep us all fed, come what may.

When we’re standing out there in the rain or wind or heat or cold, it can be easy to snark about the weather, but the fact that the vendors brave wet clothes and raging sun is a testament to their commitment to you, to their creative passion, to our community’s food system.

Would you help us thank them for all they do? You already support the vendors every week with your purchases, and we are so grateful. This fall, as we contemplate the end of the season, we are hoping to provide each vendor with a signed print of our 2022 tote bag design by Corey Hagelberg. Just $20 from you would support both Corey’s art and one vendor at the market.

Each vendor will receive a print (unframed) signed by the artist.

During the upcoming cold winter months, we can all look back at our Coffee Creek Farmers Market prints from Corey and be encouraged in our planning for next season, when we will be out there in the Pavilion parking lot, rain or shine, living into our local food system.

Thanks for considering contributing to this end-of-season thank you project. You can donate by clicking here and sending $20 through Paypal.

Find us this week and every week at our Wednesday market at the Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve Pavilion parking lot, April 20-November 2, 2022, from 3PM-sunset (now that we're past the fall equinox). Check us out on Facebook and Instagram, and sign up for our mailing list to get notified of all of the vendors' featured products each week.

Thank you for voting for the Coffee Creek Farmers Market as your favorite market in this year's American Farmland Trust and the Farmers Market Coalition! We were voted #7 in the state of Indiana! We love our market community and are so glad that so many farmers markets felt the love this year!
